  1. I just can’t get over these photos. Meaning, of course, I can’t get over the land. I lived in Utah for a year, did some traveling there, and spent a bit of time in New Mexico, but not nearly enough to see even a portion of what’s there to be seen. At the time, i wasn’t quite as brave and adventurous as I am now, and not as interested in the natural world. That made a difference.

    It’s impossible to pick a favorite from among your photos. I think the pictographs, the petrified forest, and Calf Creek Falls are near the top of the heap. Many reminded me of my trip through the area surrounding Palo Duro Canyon. The red rock is fantastic, and the layers equally so. The white crust on top of the red rock always reminds me of frosting on a cake.

    A wonderful post, that got my travel juices flowing.
